High-Performance, Low-Noise

The propeller is – together with the engine – one the major components of an aircraft. Its characteristics considerably affect performance and noise. Only, if the propeller is individually adapted to the aircraft, the optimum efficiency is achieved. Hoffmann Propeller guarantee such a customer work taking into consideration all requirements.

The right Choice for your Aircraft

Hoffmann Propeller manufacture 2-5 bladed propellers in wooden composite construction with fixed pitch, ground adjustable but mostly variable pitch, hydraulically or mechanically controlled with optional provisions for reverse thrust and feathering up to an input power of 400 kW and a maximum diameter of 4 m. Great importance is attached to low noise operation. Of course, propeller range also includes propellers for unmanned vehicles (UAV).

Superior Safety and Performance

The great advantage of the wooden composite construction is that each blade – even single units – can be manufactured individually, as no moulds or castings are required. The low weight of the material adds to the performance benefits of this design. At Hoffmann, every product is professionally built to the highest aviation standards, with safety, performance, affordability, and service as top priorities.

Our Products in detail:

Hoffmann Propeller HO-V 62HO-V 62 blade

The propeller HO-V 62() is a two bladed lightweight propeller with mechanical pitch change device. The hub is made from forged aluminium alloy and the blades are wood-composite with FRP-covering and leading edge guard.
It is equipped with a “Take Off Position” and a
“Feathering Position”. It was mainly designed and developed for the use with early generation of powered gliders.

The propeller HO-V 62R() is a two bladed lightweight propeller with mechanical pitch change device.  It is equipped with a “Take Off”-, a “Cruise”- and  a “Feathering Position”. It was mainly designed and developed for the use with the second generation  of powered gliders. The additional cruise position improves the flight cruise performance of the powered glider considerable.

Hoffmann Propeller HO-V 123 BladeHO-V 123 blade

The propeller HO-V 123() is a three bladed single acting fully hydraulically controlled constant speed propeller. The hub is made from forged aluminium alloy to fit to the Lycoming, Teledyne engines, but different flanges are also available. The blades are wood - composite with FRP-covering and leading edge guard.

The pre-selected propeller RPM will be kept constant in the normal operating range by a propeller governor. This propeller uses oil pressure to increase pitch.  The travel of the propeller blades is limited by mechanical stops.
In the event of an oil pressure failure the propeller blades automatically return to the low pitch stop and the propeller can be used as a fixed pitch unit. The propeller RPM has to be adjusted and controlled by the throttle only, but the flight may be continued.

For special applications the propeller uses oil pressure to decrease pitch. In this case counterweights have to be used to turn the propeller blades towards coarse pitch. In the event of oil pressure failure the propeller blades automatically go to the high pitch or feathering stop.
